On the promotion angle, yeah, the only reason I ever hear about Nostr is I think because of misconceptions and then just one guy I saw posting on my mastodon feed from here and that’s what made me go “huh, wait a second let me see this again”
I also think nostr just isn't good at the projects outside of microblogging / twitter-alts. Nostr often does feel like a bitcointwitter expats hangout / chatroom / telegram group. Quite a few of us (myself included) would agree with a lot of this review. (But yeah it's besides the point, the article is a user's experience).
There are curious projects tho. Like torrential over nostr: dtan.xyz

I do t even know or understand a fraction of it anyway.

Jack and nostr-as-microblogging may be the least interesting aspects of Nostr, but sadly the most prominent (no offence intended to anyone lol).
Again this is not the fault of someone looking into nostr and not finding this, I mean it's all fairly WiP ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
