This is dumb. Mexican mafia does things like beheading your children and leaving their heads in a cooler on your porch.

I don't think people realise how evil the mafia is.

Mexico is more dangerous than US war zones, at least it was 2015-ish. More people die in Mexico per capita, per time period, than on US wsrs, because of the banditos/narcos. (aka cartels)

Mexican cartels intentionally kill innocent people, women and children. The US goes out of it's way to prevent this.

I also think there are different ways to deal with the mafia than is currently being tried.

The Mexican drug cartels in particular get almost all their power because of America’s war on drugs but also America’s endless thirst for said drugs.

All that said. I agree. Organized violent crime isn’t something anyone wants to or should have to live with.
