I dumped Windows back in 2007. More holes in that OS than Swiss cheese. Learning curve on Linux has dramatically declined due to OS install and support improvements. But, probably still not for everyone.
You said Windows 11 requires you to log in with a Microsoft account. I really doesn't. I work IT in a school and with the Pro version of Windows you can log in with a local or domain account and no Microsoft Account at all. Windows Home does require a Microsoft account. If I get a Home machine I setup with a throwaway account, upgrade to Pro and switch to a local account. I'm not sure if you even have to upgrade to Pro to do that, but I always do for other reasons. Use whatever works for you, but I just find it easier than working with Mac or Linux due to hardware and software support issues. Best regards.
