I had a wine party app idea I still want to implement:
1. Everyone brings two bottles, one cheap one expensive
2. The app then randomizes the tasting by putting them in numbered paper bags. You have two wines in front of each tasting: one expensive and one cheap. You have to guess which one is which and rate them on the app.
3. At the end you show the data, the top rated wines and their price. A part of the fun could be showing who guessed the more expensive wine the highest percent of the time and if the price is a reliable indicator for the quality.
This collected data is a blind-trial wine ranking instead of some subjective rating from experts, and could be stored in a database for everyone to use.
I've done blond beer tastings and I can tell you some cheap beers scored pretty high π
