No, 64 bit. I would mostly use it to browse internet and stream video

Lubuntu and Xubuntu are pretty stripped down. You'd be surprised how well an older-ish laptop can run even the more beefy distros, like plain ol Ubuntu.

Try Xubuntu. XFCE is a no-nonsense crowd pleaser desktop environment.

Have you ever tried MX Linux? I have had great results with it on older systems. Currently have the xfce spin on a 2014 MBA and it runs great.
