My current ISP (who I have cancelled with, but it happens in a few weeks) called me to ask why I cancelled, but wanted to confirm my full name, date of birth and account number. I told her because she called me, I can't be certain she isn't a scammer, so I will have to call her back on the official number. She confirmed the official number (matched her calling number and one of their phone numbers deep in their website) and her name with spelling. I called back and the wait queue is more than 1 hour, but I can schedule a "call back" where they will call me when it is my turn in the queue.

Does anybody see what the problem is? I don't think they are going to find out why I cancelled.

I did exactly this with my bank (supposedly) just a few days ago! The lady calls me, not the opposite, and has the gall to ask me to verify my identity.

She was shocked when I demanded that she did the same, and when she couldn't I told her to send me a verified anti-phishing compliant email, and hung up.
