freeing up space on an 4TB external SSD for the bitcoin ledger to live
backing up all the drone videos that have never seen the light of day lol
we're almost there!
while I wait I'm connecting the spare laptop (running startOS) I'm using for the full bitcoin node to my Starlink via an Ethernet adapter
by tonight, the node should be running the syncing process 🙌
Feels good, first node online and syncing!
Over 60% synced! This was much easier than I expected and I’m grateful I get to look back on this weekend as the time I brought my first node online!

My node ended up crashing repeatedly due to me not understanding that StartOS does not support running off an external SSD 🤦♀️
Currently saving up for a 4TB M.2 SSD that I can use in my spare laptop! Then I can start up the node again 🥳
so turns out I somehow accidentally installed startOS on my 500 GB NVMe drive instead of the 4 TB external SSD I intended to use for this node 🤦♀️
I swore I chose that external SSD during setup, but I must have made a mistake somewhere (maybe how I formatted/prepped the SSD)
Anyway, I ended up straight up removing the internal drive from the laptop I’m using so startOS had no other option but to use the external drive, now I should be spinning up a FULL un-pruned node!
time to go back to waiting for it to sync ⏳🕰️⌚️⏲️⏰
I’ll always be fond of looking back on this journey, I’m so fucking excited and this thread really captures that!
