It takes time. When the fiat value of bitcoin fluctuates the way it has been for awhile it makes it hard to keep up with what the sat value of a thing is day to day. In the meantime one thing you should always do is think, if i buy this thing today, it's it worth buying to the degree that i should've just bought sats instead?

There's always an opportunity cost, is the thing you're buying going to make you net more profitable per hour than just stacking sats? Is the thing your buying going to provide lasting memories than could never be replaced?

A lot of factors go into deciding the opportunity cost forgone by purchasing things. The only relevant actor with enough information to make that decision is you.

I've set aside an amount I'm comfortable with for Zaps. Just so that I can start experimenting with it. And that's mostly where this question comes from. If I want to zap someone, is 3000 sats more or less than I valued what was said? I still have to translate that into about $2 - which is way more than I wanted to send.

Only zap content you seem worthy of value you send. Only send what you'd like. There's always the trade off that 3k sats you send will be worth more in the future. The double edged sword of early adoption.
