I like these ideas, but it would take an army to get them implemented

army as in force or army as in number of people?
good ideas should not be imposed by force OR anything imposed by force may not be good at all
Ideally as in number of people, of course. But the problem with this ideal, which I share, is that bad ideas are imposed by force. If we say that good ideas can't be forcibly imposed, while in reality bad ideas are forcibly imposed, then good ideas are always disadvantaged, and over the long run lose entirely, since bad ideas claim the high ground of the real world and good ideas claim only the world of ideas. So the question is really only : is the idea so good that it overcomes the disadvantage of reality imposing bad ideas by force? For now, its a moot point - there's plenty of room for good ideas sans violence. But will it always be this way? I'd say no, and history shows there is a breaking point where the good must be imposed. I'd point to almost any civil war (real civil wars - the American one was not a civil war) and the Reformation. We're not there right now, but it does happen.
