Could Taylor Swift be considered a feminist? If so, does that makes her brand toxic to adolescent ladies??

Feminism in its essence is healthy, but the modern version is a problem. Taylor is no more a feminist than any other liberal white woman. There are a thousand other reasons her brand is not toxic to young girls.

I thought that too until I fell down a mini rabbit hole and now I’m questioning if it’s all an act.

I remember when she first came out, it was like a breath of fresh air. She was a country, wholesome, new aged Britney Spears… now that I’ve grown up with her … it’s a little odd how the die hard swifties tend to be over 25, unmarried professionals who could careless about marriage and kids… but will spend thousands on a concert ticket.

Now the whole Travis Kelce rumors, have me thinking her brand is “new age feminism” which makes me feel like her music etc is teaching young women to be self centered.

I couldn’t agree more with you. She just appears to be another Hollywood sell-out now. The authenticity and freshness from her country days is gone and she has a self-admitted fixation on becoming the next female billionaire in the industry.

Still makes bangers, though. Ha.

That’s really interesting knowing she said that… it makes the Kelce thing make so much more sense. Maybe it’s a shot at the 2025 halftime show ???… the other female billionaires (Bey and Rih) have already done it…

Could be, she’s definitely quite clever and strategic. I think she also said one time that if she wasn’t doing music, she would be in marketing and PR. She’s always had a natural talent for this stuff, as is evident by how she handles her new album and song releases, as well as tours.

Nothing that lures women away from their families, where they are actually free, with the Illusion of being independent, as they are actually slaves to the office, is a good thing.

If nothing else, some popstars, Taylor in particular, have proved falling in love and having a family is the way to go. Even though she sings of the loss of those possibilities.

How has she proved that? I’m not sure how I feel about any of it… maybe she’s establishing herself as an archetype of some sort? Or maybe it’s all branding and we are only meant to be consumers?

I’ve always liked her music. Im also apart of her demo and have gotten a bit curious about what’s being marketed to me.

If I say it is clearly in her lyrics I would not be honest. I do not have that knowledge of her repertoire. Nonetheless, the general thematics of her lyrics do seem to gravitate towards achieving those goals: love and family.

Maybe she is offering that dream as a soothing anesthetic for the bitter and sad life of the bitter and sad feminists.

It’s interesting to think about

Oh wow, that makes sense! 😊 super insightful 🌻

🤔,

Taylor Swift being considered a feminist does not make her brand toxic to adolescent ladies.

What makes you say that?

I meant she is doing for marketing purposes
