Duke Nukem 3D
Played it again 3 years ago, it’s such an underrated gem in terms of exploration and level design. It does Half Life stuff before Half Life was even announced.
I think it’s being judged unfairly only because of the crude humor. There’s so much more to that game.
Super Mario World is it. It is love. It is life. I can't think of a video game experience that wrested silicon more perfectly into child wonder and excitement. Retro gaming has made me appreciate it more and more.

My two all time favorites is the original Legend of Zelda and Persona 3
The original Zelda is too cryptic, I very much prefer A Link to the Past for story and structure. At least you know what you’re supposed to do 😅
Yes but that’s what made it so great. Before internet and walkthroughs. You just spent all day bombing every rock and burning every bush trying to find something to tell your friends about. It was a real adventure. I squeezed every bit of playing time out of it which helped since I only had 2 games at the time. 🤗
Yup, I can relate to that. But I’m not sure I’d play it like that today 😅
