Yes. I've also noticed the people that say it for free and tell people to find a version that fulfills them are mostly ignored.
Some psychology behind that if it costs, it must be worth it.
Very interesting and likely quite accurate observation. :)
Dissonance is an incredibly powerful motivator after all.
