I never considered myself a liberal, but I listened to NPR daily for years, subscribed to the NYT for years, because I wanted to have a sense of the fancy liberal perspective.

Both completely lost me over time.

For NPR, it was a slow burn that eventually extinguished when I no longer had a commute. For NYT, it was firing James Bennet for publishing an op ed from a sitting senator.

Now I primarily subscribe via substack and patreon. News is a commodity, and I’ll pay for opinions from individuals I trust. There are no publications I trust at this point

For me it was: Bari Weiss, 9/11 YouTube videos, and all media swearing they are balanced. I always sorry of knew that "we"are not being told the truth, but seeing Aaron Russo's documentary "freedom from fascism" was the final nail in the coffin.
