I tried to pay with Lightning in a restaurant for the first time. Big disappointment.

The PoS had such a shitty screen that it was literally impossible to scan the fucking QR code.

Me and my friends spent 30 minutes trying with different phones and QR scanning apps without success.

There was no QR alternative (no NFC for instance). It also didn't support on-chain bitcoin (which would produce a smaller and perhaps readable QR).

In the end we gave up and I just paid with cash. The restaurant owner kept apologizing.

My friends and wife kept trolling me later with "See, I knew this bitcoin thing would never work!" 😂

That would be frustrating

At least you tried

The best solution I have seen is Zeus connected to Square. Square inventory and tranactions are unified along with cost basis reporting. Merchant uses quality android phone with Zeus Wallet.

Literally anything would have been better than that 2002 gameboy screen

7 years into the LN project. How did you feel about it?

Happy, I had a nice lunch with friends

Just use monero

They didn't accept monero

It would also make 0 difference if they can't display a propper readable QR code

indeed

Figured - also apologies for the shitpost. Paying with monero on chain can also be a pain. Like.. Do you have enough unlocked balance.

to solve this, select 5 or more addresses within your wallet and send different amounts to them. When you will need more then is available in one wallet the outputs will merge and allow you to spend a higher amount. Whenever you will need to spend less then you sent in each individual address, you will have all of the coins in the other addresses avilable. I hope I explained it in a way that is understandable.
