New and original working Recipe by yours truly, Hirozaru, just written off my head. have fun.

I prefer doing water extraction, instead of alcohol extraction. because alcohol is hard to evaporate, and also needs to be purchased. water is virtually free. also left over of alcohol can remain in the non-polar kerosene.

so I first grind the pills and mix with cold water. then I filter the pill content.

I keep the water, and I put back the pill content from the filter back into glass water and add water a second time. and mix again.

ideally I do that one more time.

then I trash the solid and put all the water together.

in a separate beaker, I put X amount of NaOH with water. I try to have a saturated NaOH solution.

Depending on the amount of PSE, I use the equivalent molar mass of NaOH. But there might be other thing in the pill content, that is also water solube, that might need NaOH or not.

NaOH with water is exothermic, but I don't want heat at this point. so I wait until it cool back down to ~25C or less.

then I add to the water. and I stir...

a foamy layer is forming. the PSE HCl becomes PSE oil. Then I add kerosene

and I mix again.

PSE oil is moving to the non-polar layer.

I separate the layer. technically I should be able to trash the water here.

and my PSE is in my kerosene.

I can carry one with my reaction.

if I have 4 boxes of 48 pills at 25mg, that's 4.8g of PSE. if I calculate with the molar mass of 165.23, that's 0.02905.

if I calculate with PSE HCl molar mass of 201.69g, that's 0.02379

either way, those are very small.

The battery is cut open and the lithium strip cleaned from the black stuff. and put in the kerosene with the PSE oil, or the pill content.

Those amount below are calculated with 2g of Lithium and the PSE.

I add 25.377g of NH4NO3 (Ammonium Nitrate)

And finally, I add 12.681 of NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide)

I close the bottle and I shake it a bit, or apply some heat with a hair dryer and the reaction kicks in quickly.

when its done, I filter out the kerosene.

Then I salt with HCl acid or Tartaric Acid

Evaporate, Purify with Acetone, Crystalize with IPA.

And finish.
