Well, quite. The crisis is only for those that have completely discounted their direct experience of the world (beaches played on as children, unmoved; resorts ski’id on as children, busier than ever; garden suffering due to below-average spring temperatures, normal variance) in favour of third-party assurances of impending doom. The >30 somethings in the room have really seen enough to know better by now, but you feel for the kids convinced every weather event experienced for the first time is a direct result of sins of the fathers.
There's loads of them. Roman fish farms etc.
Remember that a panicked and fearful populace is much easier to exert power over.
