They don’t need a million… there are far far fewer nodes out there

Number of nodes is irrelevant for control. It's actual (not fake) economic activity on the nodes that determines outcomes of forks.

yes, if Blackrock adds 1 million nodes that follow bitcoin's rules, so what?

They can fork their 1 billion nodes to run whatever software they want, and we will keep running bitcoin. It will be bitcoin cash 2.0.
