-THE BITCOIN ISLAND LIFE-

Harlem, New York City, 1963

Busted fire hydrants in New York, sometimes called the “poor man’s swimming pool” are one of the city’s great traditions, a wonder of design that when ‘alive’ have inevitably become the subject for many photographers.

The jets of water are a gift to the people, especially children and if there isn’t a photo book devoted entirely to the subject, there should be.

Iconic use of the hydrants. I always thought that culture had exaggerated how common it is.

Till I visited NY and saw them using them exactly like this. 😎💧
