Norris topped the opening session for McLaren with a late flying lap, and his team mate was not too much further back. Both had their fast runs compromised by traffic though, so there was clearly more to come from the MCL39. They looked quick in FP2 as well, although they were pipped to the top spot by Ferrari. This time Piastri nudged ahead, showing just how tight things might be between the two team mates.
