WASHINGTON: The U.S.

government is projected to spend $400 million on armored Tesla vehicles, according to a newly released State Department document outlining procurement plans for fiscal year 2025. However, the document does not specify which Tesla models will be acquired by U.S. officials.

Following reports on Wednesday night regarding the State Department's planned purchase of Tesla vehicles, the document was revised at 9:12 p.m. to state that the federal contract is for $400 million worth of "armored electric vehicles,

" with the mention of "Tesla"

removed.

Additionally, the document indicates that some of Tesla's competitors will receive substantial, though significantly smaller, contracts for armored vehicles.

Among them, BMW is expected to provide

approximately $40 million worth of SUVs to the federal government.
