So I just Received my nostr:npub1jg552aulj07skd6e7y2hu0vl5g8nl5jvfw8jhn6jpjk0vjd0waksvl6n8n JADE and have no idea on how to set it up 😕 😂

I'm sure some YouTube videos will help ...

but I have a #asknostr ( question ❓) ....

If I transfer from my current wallet to a new wallet am I going to incure fees ? I know this sounds dumb but I've always only had one wallet... ie utxo's

And if so when I do would this be considered a consolidation ?

Maybe wait for SATs per V/bite to be low ?

Yes. Watch the mempool for low transaction fees.

Definitely wait a week before making any transfers to give yourself some time to youtube uxto management skills and tactics.

You may want to consolidate some. And split up others.

If you learn this first, you’ll most likely save yourself some sats by not sending utxo’s multiple times.

so for example on my stack spreadsheet... when I transfer over to the new wallet whatever tho cost is for the base layer... how would I reflect that on my spreadsheet? a sell ?

I guess. This for tax purposes? Not sure why you would want to give up your stack size to write a few bucks off.

But if you send from one utxo to a new utxo, one could consider that a sell because you incur a transaction fee.

If you transfer a UTXO from one address to another address then yes you incur fees. If you set that new Jade wallet up with a pre-existing seed phrase that holds a BTC balance, there is no transfer so no fees.

Yep should be able to…. When you get to setup you just need to choose “Restore Wallet” when prompted to select the setup method. You enter your 12 or 24 word seed phrase directly on the Jade, pair it with your companion app (Green, or Sparrow or Nunchuk or whatever), et voilà!

This; if you have a bip39 seedphrase (usually 24 or 12 words) you can import and recover the same wallet, without using a transfer onchain. In some situations it might not work (talking generally, not Jade specifically) due to incompatible address types, but hardware wallets are mostly interoperable like that.

Unfortunately, Jade is very expensive for an average Brazilian (my case and that of many others), but I support the initiative and the product.
