it should always have been permissible, it's human readable, after all

honestly who even uses the advanced features, tables, and whatnot

just gimme headers, styling, section separators, links and images

we don't need floating justified images, we don't need any of that shit, the base of markdown that is in use, and has been used for years in social network protocols is fine, just that there is some retarded perfectionists in the nostr nips repo

this also is why we don't have adequate client support of DMs or NIP-42

classic demonstration of how perfect is the enemy of functional

Maybe I'm missing something here, but #amethyst has rendered simple markdown in my notes since I started using it a year ago Feb. Whether they were always tagged as kind 01, I've no clue.

I never noticed.

Me either until today years old.

This should be standard, it's so easy. GitHub flavor is fine, almost everyone who cares is already writing GitHub README.md

Well, we can all write in md, then, as some will just see the markings and others will see the formatting.

indeed, i might have to switch to **bold** instead of LOUD, and [click here](https://github.com/mleku) to see my github

That's actually more-legible. 🤔

+1

When a kind 1 compliant client parses the link as a link this gives a 404 requiring the user to know to remove the parenthesis on the end

This is actually a feature not a bug, people who don't know how to fix it will just hit the back button and be on nostr again
