I feel so dumb asking this, I thought I was paying attention with Remittance fees and Strike and the LN.

Now our daughter is in France for a long time, we need to wire her money to her new French Bank account from US Bank.

The options we have are expensive and dumb, anyone know how to do this without my having to give up the Sats I clawed to get from living in the US and depositing to various Lightning wallets?

I would like to be able to send up to $5000 with the least Friction and not trip the alarms our stupid banks have.

Our daughter is a wonderful, upstanding, college student not a criminal nor are we bad actors but we are forced to feel this way.

Thanks a lot Freedom based Les Etats Unis for all my decades of following all the rules and you put me in this box?

Zelle, Wire Transfer, PayPal, Western Union...all awful options with the incredible fees attached.

French Bank is LCL if that matters, not sure if it is best to start from French or American side.

Good God is banking broken worldwide.

She should be able to get Strike there, and link it up with her bank account there for withdrawals to fiat (at least that's how I understood the Strike EU launch announcements)

Or are you asking for non KYC withdrawals to fiat?

Thank you, not worried about KYC at all, I'd give a urine sample if I had to.

I can't believe the process has to be this insane/inane.

She can download Phoenix, keep the sats there under her complete control (in self custody), and use Strike just for cashing out EUR to her local bank as needed for rent, etc.

She can also easily pay with Bitcoin directly from Phoenix wherever she finds possible, or purchase gift cards on Bitrefill for her Carrefour/Zalando/Uber/Amazon shopping. Which is generally better than going through the bank account route (less likely that she can run into any hassles of having to report the sources of income and other government nonsense)

You may know, at this age, "I am her dumb dad talking about dumb Bitcoin."

I tell her, when she gets her French Major from a Uni in France to study, "Le Bitcoin."

"Whatever dad, " her.

I am probably only going to have her setup Strike to go from her US Bank to her French account. Thanks again.
