Probably won't touch the Tor library any time soon. DDOS on the network means the needle won't be moved much.

Suggest checking out LNC, ZeroTier, or Tailscale.

I switched to Wireguard VPN to connect to my Core Lightning node with Zeus and to say that the performance improved dramatically would be an understatement.
