Traveling to the Maui for the first time soon. Any advice? Staying in the cheap area in a condo. Will be there a week and have a car rental. I know Lahaina is still closed, since the fires. Definitely want to respectfully enjoy the natural beauty of the island. #travel #asknostr

Went to Maui this past winter for the first time. I wasn’t too impressed by the beaches, I think I got an unrealistic standard presented to me from the photos before I went. Weather was beautiful and overall energy of the locals was refreshing. Spent a lot of time in the water, and in the resort I stayed at. Wouldn’t go again unless I got a cheap deal on tickets and hotels, but it was a pretty relaxing vacation and way to get away from the crap weather at home. Lahaina is closed but a lot of the restaurants and spots still say they’re open online so be cautious before you just show up like I did.
