Yes but the ethics are even simpler than that. It's a voluntary system. Whatever is voluntarily consented to by ALL participants as regards their own property, their own nodes, with sufficient information to understand what they are consenting to, is what is ethical, or rather, at least lawful. If the devs sneak this PR in and it violates what noderunners would go for if they understood it better, that is unethical. Silencing discussions because you assume that ethical considerations are irrelevant, that is immoral because you are fundamentally denying the reality of ethical considerations, and all denials of reality are immoral.
