We’re building a freedom tech tool for normal people. It’s a really difficult line to walk. Open and free enough for privacy cypherpunks while approachable and comfortable to the normal user who needs better privacy but doesn’t actively seek it out.

I often catch criticism and hate because nostr:nprofile1qqs8msutuusu385l6wpdzf2473d2zlh750yfayfseqwryr6mfazqvmgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgewaehxw309ac8yetdd96k6tnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0k644fs doesn’t have this “obvious” auth feature or that “must have” payment method. As if we don’t know about it or are so blind to its necessity.

We make project decisions that will enable us to bring private, confidential AI to a billion users. That’s us. That’s nostr:nprofile1qqs8msutuusu385l6wpdzf2473d2zlh750yfayfseqwryr6mfazqvmgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgewaehxw309ac8yetdd96k6tnswf5k6ctv9ehx2ap0k644fs.

That is not going to look the same as your typical open-source AI project on github (even though Maple is). It takes the form of a fast, highly efficient tool that solves encryption for the user so they can focus on their task at hand knowing their privacy is protected.

We have to be at least as usable as ChatGPT if we want to beat them.

If that’s not the private AI experience you want, good news. There are other great options for you that come with their own set of tradeoffs.

If you want to use the private AI that is building for individuals and Fortune 500 companies, Maple is here for you. Grab a free account.

There is so much more to come, you’ve only seen the beginning.

As you describe it it‘s the right approach! Usability first or you won’t get the early majority.
