That's so cool! I've made my own before at home, but I doubt it compares to the real thing. What was the culture there like around its consumption?

Oh it was extremely common to see xocoatl cafes there and even in some of the bed & breakfast type places we stayed at near Chichen Itza would offer it as an option at breakfast aling with coffee or tea.

The cafes even offered flights and tasting classes. The ones with cocoa butter & shaved chocolate in the mixture along with the typical ingredients were the best no matter the flavor.

I'm absolutely visiting there now, this sounds incredible if one of the most beautiful structures ever created by humans wasn't already enough to entice me to Peru 😄
