There is no universe where the game theory allows altcoins to succeed even if #bitcoin fails.
Buying altcoins (including Ethereum) to "diversify" and mitigate #btc risk is just a myth sold to newcomers.

Both 22 and 35 are equally incorrect answers.
Diversification into gold, shitcoins or stocks is an option. Feel free to do so. But it's like saying that answer to the question above could be also 21.1 or 99. Doesn't really matter that much, you're just wrong.
