I've never used it to upload but I have downloaded the json for my follows from what is now old.iris.to. I have no idea whether it will work but if this is happening to you over and over again it's probably worth a shot once you've built your list again.

There used to be a client that backed it up automatically and you could just restore it with a click, but it’s defunct 😭
