On the likelihood of the FAA being at fault for the CRJ-900 crash in Canada:

The CRJ-900 crashed while landing and not during takeoff. Transport Canada has jurisdiction over what would be the FAA’s role at Canadian Airports.

Key Judgment: There is interoperability between the FAA and Transport Canada on flights that cross the border, but if it was an FTC error, during the landing, it’s highly unlikely that the FAA is to blame here. It’s highly likely that the icy conditions and/or pilot error are to blame here.

Regardless, as we said with the crash at Reagan Washington National Airport, speculating on grandiose causes so early isn’t benefiting anybody.

Amazingly, Canadian Authorities have now confirmed that No Fatalities occurred as a result of today’s crash-landing and flip of a Delta Airlines CRJ-900 Passanger Jet at Toronto Pearson International Airport. 15 Injuries were transported to Local Hospitals, although none of the Injuries were deemed to be Life Threatening.
