The main issue with developers, is lack of focus on the customers’/users’ needs.

Usually the case. But it’s also hard figuring out which features to prioritize while at the same time having to fix annoying bugs and figuring out how to make clients fast.

I’ve peaked behind those curtains and it ain’t easy.

Just ease of use and user experience will make a huge difference. People don’t polish the base sufficiently and users waste a ton of time just to get frustrated in the end. It’s not about the features, it’s about the experience

The experience is much harder to nail than it seems from the outside.

you ever put the dev hat on kat? 👀

I don’t need to. I talk to many devs and see what they have to deal with. Things your average user has no idea about

It is, and yet no focus on it. Fixing embarrassing bugs that waste time is a start

There is a lot of focus on bugs, people just don’t see the work being done

I am in both camps, and I still think that there is not enough of it

It’s boring and hard work. I can kind of understand not spending all of your time fixing annoying bugs that won’t go away. Solo dev need to keep up spirits and new features is one way to do it.

GIF FUCKING BUTTONS

Yes, and I am with you. I am still waiting on the schedule of when any of the clients need a proper API to implement it. I do not control client software

🤣🫡 At this point it’s become equally about me actually wanting to be able to search for gifs in app, and it being symbolic some devs’ refusal to prioritize things users actually want.

I co-sign this

It is significantly more complicated than that.

It is challenging to find a balance between what you want to provide, what can realistically be done, is it affordable, are the development resources available , and does it benefit a small group of users vs the majority, and is it a need that absolutely must be satisfied now?

Like many things in life it is challenging. Setting priorities and reaching your goals. Navigating through all of them successfully is a rare minor miracle for anyone. Especially in a world full of people with a constant need for instant gratification.

Help them if you can financially, or whatever value you feel they deserve that you can give. Try to empathize more with that their profession has a lot of moving parts. Sometimes shit doesnt work, or it breaks down. That is the nature of technologies old and new. They dont always get things right Just like the rest of us too.

I am the dev for media hosting, so I do have the full understanding and insight into it. Setting priorities correctly is the challenge, everything else is a grit to make things happen.

Preaching to the choir.
