I’m curious to know y’all’s opinion on this. Can two individuals generate the same #Bitcoin address?

As I begin setting up some #Bitaxe miners, what’s the possibility that I generate a #Bitcoin address and down the line someone else generates the same address. Who would get the funds/rewards?

I read once that there are more possible Bitcoin addresses than there are atoms in the universe. I'm not quite sure if that's true, but it gets the point across. The signature is probably unique enough to describe any 3d point, that's how descriptive it is. The odds of generating the same address twice are essentially none.

That number is ridiculously giant, our mind can't understand it.

About 2^160 addresses

There's are about 2^80 atoms in the observable universe.

There are about 7.5 x 10^18 grains of sand on planet earth.

I hope I get a nice address 🤣

Gotcha. So practically impossible to generate the same exact address?

Odds are zero. No worries.

1 in 2^160 is not 0.

So we should be worried? I don't think so. On paper is not zero, but in real life it is.

It was a dink comment. Sorry.

I value precision more than most and it got the best of me this time.

No problem I get your point, my statement should have included "in practice" 😘
