I also think communities, cos of how they're set up and how not used they are, are somewhat affected by the popularity of the person who created them.

(Obviously I have made mostly anti social communities lol, I'm not under any illusion there, also I'm not saying thats the only factor either). But yeah they seem to work best firstly a broad popular topic but also with a broadly popular creator. Just my impression :)

Opt you. Fuck what i do or don’t.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Unless desiring to goodnight with wakefields, holden or mccains

You want to be right

Yeah I can agree. That's why I don't like people focus social media LOL but anyway I looked at Twitter communities yesterday and they seem to have it set up right I hope no still follows through and does the same not with how they operate but just getting them functional I guess

In a way communities on nostr make more sense than twitter.

Discovering people within subcultures is somewhat easier than, and you can curate a follow list from just a bit of digging.

Subcultures (besides the main b word) are not really present here.

Sort of why I treat some communities Ive made like they're a personal Tumblr:)

Yeah what really sucks and to be honest pisses me off. Is that people use the hashtags of the communities that we made and use. And I just think it's fucking so God damn mother fucking stupid that their posts don't automatically populate into the community do you know what I'm saying it's like? People are having those conversations about movies but they're not posting it in your community so why they're just using a hashtag so why the fuck can't those hashtags post go into your community like it's just dumb dude. I know people have their own opinions about the communities here but I just feel like doing that just defeats the whole fucking purpose of communities I'm sorry

Ha, yeah well you can't force anyone to post in a community:) but it would be nice to have an option of sending (pending approval) any posts with hashtags. Although, vague ones like # movies could have a hell of a lot of spam to sift through

Yeah I don't know I go back and forth with my confidence of communities in nostr working out. Time will tell

But yes, there's a bit too much focus on poster personalities here and it's somewhat a clique. Compare that to a messageboard. Where there's much less of that, although it does still exist obviously. That would be ideal. Somehow goes hand in hand with the community being part of the npub.

I hope the closed communities take off and groups migrate here who have no interest in the Promoted Personalities established here. That would be ...um healthy or something.
