I don’t get the whole benefit of seeing if my friends liked something .. I’d much rather see a huge aggregate of diverse opinions. IMDb and rotten tomatoes is generally accurate already with some exceptions.

You can't see what movies your friends liked on IMDb though.

Then simply switch. The filter to "everyone" .
Soon, when there's enough content I'll even add filters by follow packs, so if there's a movie critics or cinephiles follow pack you can even see what they think.
But whatever you're probably too cool for it.
