Disarming the American public in a misguided attempt at gun control would be devastating for democracy globally. While it may not be immediately intuitive to some, a nation of armed people provides a deterrent to potential aggressors through the security of mutually assured destruction. After observing the events unfolding in France, I am more convinced than ever that it is crucial for Americans to uphold their right to bear arms.
