think of it as a second/third adoption layer where you entrust a few sats to a third party who will hopefully try to maintain a reputation for not stealing it right away.

for simplification and fast deployment on the emerging nostr protocol, it is sufficient and not the final solution

I'm glad to hear that. I looked into seeing what it would take to self host my own lnurl address, and in that rabbit hole found out why there's only two sites offering it.

It's not simple, but it does hide a lot about the ln btc for outside parties. Yet, outside parties have the benefit of seeing who gets sent what on nostr with signed receipts.

I'm okay with 3rd party involvement long term, and I think there's not any issue there, and it's fine if there's some compromises now that can eventually be overcome.
