Wow…a lot to unpack there…as with previous posts u raise some great q’s and provide a lot of interesting info.
I’m pretty deep in the rabbit hole and, as you’ve pointed out, I still have so much to learn. I’m a converted gold bug so I’ve understood debasement of fiat for many years. Since discovering BTC I think I better understand scarcity and the importance of decentralized FOSS…but I’m still ignorant on so many topics and haven’t really considered much other than supply with re to the halvings… altho the coincidental timing of several halvings with macroeconomic turmoil is interesting.
One other thing has crossed my mind and it sounds crazy. I’m hesitant to say it and this will be heresy to many BTCers but I don’t think this crazy thought alters the value path of BTC (except that western govs and there proxies may own a lot more than we think). Anyway here goes.
It’s long been suspected that western countries have exagerated their physical gold holdings to the high side and eastern countries have significantly underreported their gold supplies. This fact coupled with more favorable demographics would swing the balance of economic power to the eastern and southern (trade surplus countries , ie brics+) nations. I don’t think any of this would come as a surprise to most BTCers.
What if, based on demographics and macroeconomics, western countries knew the sun was setting on their economic control and feared being on the receiving side of similar sanctions and the general shite fookery they’ve inflicted on these other nations over the last several decades . The thought would be terrifying and once all conceivable options of maintaining economic control were exhausted decided a neutral asset that couldn’t be corrupted or controlled by enemy nations was a better option than allowing a changing world reserve currency under the control of hostile governments.
While it’s true that I’m generally a paranoid ol fart I was once looking at the distribution of known full nodes throughout the world and it’s uncanny how concentrated they are in the developed western nations. Although this is likely due to the affluence of citizens in these nations a mind can be a turrible thing and sometimes you can’t control the thinks that pop into your head.
