“Art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.” -Bertolt Brecht

Seemed a fitting quote given the art. It makes me sad to see the lengths we are willing to go when we cannot withstand our own reflection. Art is also a mirror -one that calls us to repentance. The true hammer belongs not with the state that smashes what it fears, but to Christ who shapes Earth as it is in Heaven. We have a part to play in that, if only we don’t shy from the mirror ourselves and repent.
