It's the idea of democracy that is inherently a lie. If one is to have democracy, the majority of people have no business voting.
It’s good to study the Athenian form of democracy. It was fragile but resilient - interestingly these contradictory traits made it endure. One institution that they had, which we no longer, have is ostracism. Anyone could be voted out and exiled. That kept the hubris in check.
