This sub-rant was prefaced by a look at me (I was the only Asian in the room) and the comment, "I don't want to start any bigotry". Anyway, apparently a friend volunteers at a food bank observed some Asians with "nice clothes" come in and then drive off in a Bentley.

I guess the Canadian version of "welfare queens" is Crazy Rich Asians in Bentleys? I've previously looked into the U.S. data on welfare fraud and of course there's some, but the % of money lost to fraud appears to be fairly small.

Without even looking at the data, I think it's safe to say that not many people who are drive a late-model Bentley are defrauding soup kitchens. If you look at the available data on median income of buyers of various cars, despite the common internet comment that people who have expensive cars are in way too much debt, the median buyer/leaser of even a $150k luxury car is very wealthy. If you just price out their time, it doesn't make sense to drive to a soup kitchen over ordering Uber Eats.
