I agree the term has lost its original meaning. It is sadly true that many projects just use it as a fancy concept to shill their token. But I liked the idea of returning the control of user identity to the users—what Nostr is enabling.

Web3 was coined by VCs to rug morons.
Maybe Jack Dorsey was using the name web 5 for this specific reason, to differentiate from all the scams.
I honestly have no problem with people printing tokens out of thin air and shill it. What I hate about it is that people use these buzzwords to sell it as it’ll change the world and all that. It’s ok to speculate, but don’t act like it’s something else. Its just so disgusting. If they’re going to scam, at least be honest about it.
