I figure there are people that piss away hundreds of dollars a month buying lottery tickets, $180 for a bitaxe probably a better investment in the long run

Yea. I'm not saying it's a waste if time or money, just that it's not hash/kWh/capital profitable. Any miner is profitable for your learning, and it's certainly a better bet than a megalotto ticket
