What you ask for is a pruning and it actually works for a subset of tasks
No I am saying ..every computer ( and smart phone) should come with a bare boot management ... and then the OS should be a distributed #gossip network like bitcoin ... get rid of all the middlemen ( Apple and MS) from the OS business .. why do we need separate Windows or Mac or even Linux ...
