Replying to Avatar a source familiar with the matter

There's a silver car in the background that doesn't appear to be torched.

My experience working in the insurance space is that a wildfire can come through a neighborhood (especially in ex-urbs, where people are building suburbs that stretch into forested areas) and burn some homes to the ground while leaving their next-door neighbors untouched. The main issue is whether there is combustible material around the home that happens to catch embers.

This home is a good example https://nypost.com/2023/08/16/house-surrounded-by-burnt-down-homes-miraculously-survived-maui-wildfires/

They have a metal roof (so embers on the roof don't lead to a fire) and they cleared plants / potential fuel from immediately around the home

Granted, but nowhere near as fun as direct energy weapons...πŸ˜‰
