I think self sovereign identities are the only ethical identity. Because nobody should have the power to take your identity away from you, and that's only possible if you create it and secure it yourself.

Your US Id is also self sovereign.. you can get rid of it at any time .. it does cost a bit but that is like the fees of inefficient system ..not the fault of Identity ..
