Private is end to end encrypted as well, noone can tell who sent the zap except the receiver

So when for example I click anonymous by default and you have chosen public and want to zap me it means that it still will be public ?

yes, only the sender can choose privacy settings. If you don’t want zaps to appear in your posts, your lnurl endpoint needs allowsNostr to be false. This will turn off zaps.

Why not private?

Because I have no interest of knowing who zapped me to not through the person under the bus

unfortunately you can’t force other people to choose anon, but maybe you could express that as a preference and clients could try to respect it? Would need a new nip

Hadn’t even thought of this, but being able to toggle off “who zapped you” seems like a good feature, regardless of the privacy settings of the zapper.

Couldn’t this be done client-side, without a nip? It just wouldn’t apply to other clients.

New times, new zaps LFG 🥷
