Welcome to #NOSTR, Twitter refugees.

(NOSTR = Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays)

A few definitions to help your experience.

1) Client: allows you to choose your Relays and publishes what the Relays broadcast.

2) npub: your public key and how others can find you. Any Note with your npub in tags you.

3) Relays: these broadcast Notes (and other stuff) to Clients. Relays censor and are opt-in.

4) private key: used to sign all Notes you broadcast to the network. Anyone who has access IS you as far as the network is concerned. Guard it carefully!

feels great - like twitter in the early days.

I missed those days but the vibe here gives me “saudade” for it.

the early twitter days there were so many clients, i opened twitter on all kinds of devices and clients. i met so many amazing people, all were friendly. it was true freedom of communication.

It definitely feels more like a grade-school playground than a peacocking contest here in #nostrville. I’m here for it.

yup, was a magical time i am not sure if i was 5000 users - but it was 2008 and i was loving twitter.

Same here. I joined Twitter in February 2008. Even when it crashed all the time and didn’t have images and hashtags yet it was far better than today.

Did you ever text your tweets to 40404? 😆

you got me beat - I am sept 2008

i'm outside of USA - does text work?

Ah, probably not.

Hi Kent 🍷
