"gender affirming care for trans youth" is, however, imposing unnecessary medicalization up to and including surgical mutilation, sterilization, chronic bone brittleness and other medical conditions that can severely foreshorten longevity, hormone treatments that negatively affect existing comorbid mental illnesses such as depression increasing risk of suicide, on minors that legally cannot even decide for themselves whether to drink beer.

Actual healthcare for gender dysphoric minors would come in the form of counselling, therapy, and support to reassure them that they are ok, not fairy tales about them being born into the wrong body.
