Bułgarian Levs has already been pegged to EUR for several years. I do not remember precisely but more then 10. So they haven’t had monetary independence anyway. This is logical step as they now can reduce trading costs. They made this decision years ago.
It is like they were on a boat tight to sinking ship and now they decided to eventually join the main crew.
